Light Industrial Applications

LINE-X has incredible bonding characteristics to properly prepared metals, fiberglass, concrete, wood, and some plastic and rubber surfaces.  It remains flexible from -40 to 220 degrees F stretching up to 115% without adhesion loss.  It dries to the touch in about 4 seconds, protects against corrosion, impact and abrasion, and even gives a skid resistant finish, if desired.  It can be applied to drywall, styrofoams, leather, carpet, linoleum, tile, various fabrics, fiberglass reinforced plastic, and countless other substrates.  LINE-X has successfully been applied to van floors, boat decking, grain hoppers, RV fronts, trailer hitches, golf carts, plant boxes, tool boxes, decorative fencing, wood signs, styrofoam signs, fertilizer tanks, stock trailers, fire rescue trucks, tanker trucks, speaker boxes, weight lifting equipment, furniture, street sweepers, salt spreaders, trailer floors, stairs, rocker panels, police canine vehicles, cinder block, and on and on....  The versatility of LINE-X is simply amazing!

LINE-X has several polyurethane/polyurea products and primers available to suit specific needs.  The most commonly used LINE-X products are XS-100 and XS-350.  XS-100, a polyurethane/polyurea blend, is the most widely used formulation.  It exhibits excellent protective benefits along with economy.  It has a textured finish and excellent elongation.  This version is the most widely used because of the wide range of applications and is suitable for 90% of industrial applications.  LINE-X XS-100 is certified for potable water containment.

LINE-X XS-350 is a pure polyurea product.  It can withstand temperatures up to 350 degrees F.  This version also exhibits even greater impact and abrasion resistance.  XS-350 is suitable for heavy duty applications or where high moisture content cannot be avoided.  It has been approved by the U.S. Air Force Research Lab as a blast mitigation product designated as PAXCON.

LINE-X has a variety of primers, some of which are solvent free (no VOC content).  These primers may or may not be necessary but are available if needed.

Lets take a look at an sample of LINE-X XS-100 applied to aluminum, see the picture below.  Square #1: Bare aluminum; Square #2: Sandblasted; Square #3: Primed with LINE-X SF515 primer; Square #4: Coated with LINE-X XS-100; Square #5: Coated with LINE-X Xtra (contains DuPont Kevlar, see the Xtra page for more information regarding the Xtra product).  This application technique results in an adhesion strength of 1,930 PSI (ASTM D2240).  Other ASTM test results are available.
